On Saturday night, the New Hamburg Firebirds visit the Burford Community Centre & Arena for a 7:20PM puck-drop.

After a fast-paced practice on Tuesday night, the Bulldogs are continuously looking to learn and build on their previous experiences. “We had 13 or 14 guys play their first junior hockey games last weekend,” said Head Coach Ryan Calbeck. “With guys also missing due to COVID19 vaccinations and injury, we haven’t been able to ice our full team as of yet. It’s not an excuse, but it is our reality for the time being. We have a great group.”

The Bulldogs bumped into a strong Wellesley side last Friday night and were downed 13-2. The following night, the AppleJacks added to their win column with a 6-1 win over Norwich while the Hespeler Shamrocks squeaked by the Bulldogs, 4-2 in front of 126 at the BCC.

Among the lessons learned last weekend, a few Bulldogs got on the score sheet to record their first junior hockey goals:

1. Jake Phelan vs Wellesley (assisted by Ethan Dezell and Frankie Varga)

2. Isaiah Ilao vs Wellesley (assisted by Thomas Morgan and Frankie Varga)

In community news, the Bulldogs will be volunteering at the Burford Fair from 12:00PM to 5:00PM on both Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10.
